I keep getting errors on files not working because they are writable by group. So in order to get them working I have to keep individually changing each file as it comes up in my error log.
Does anyone know which files have to be 777 and which ones dont? So that I can just go ahead and change all the other ones to 755?
The folders that need to be 777 are cache, images, template_c, walls, wallpapers, templates/default/lang and all the folders in modules if you plan to add translations to them.
Files db_info.php.
I think that's all.
Many of my folder were not given 777, and I have just changed their permissions after seeing this message. Will doing it now cause any problem to my site content?
There wont be any issues Deepu, giving permissions now, actually 777 is a write permission / chmod.
its like giving rights for Read, Write or Execute a file or folder by diff. group of people.
but always give 777 permission [read, write , Execute to all users] to only files and folders required by script else it will be a security threat.
