Workaround for adding header

    It's not perfect, but it's close.

    If you edit the style.css file so that the header size is 980px x 200px(or whatever you want) instead of 20px, it will give you room to create your custom header. Then replace the header-back.png file in templates>default>images with your header and it will work.

    You may have to create tiny strips of your background color on the sides of the header to match the background. It's not perfect but it works.

  2. There is no need to create any strips, just add:
    margin-left: 5px;
    in
    .top-header ( style.css )

    the problem with this solution is that when we edit the height of anything on the header, the ajax categories menu is staying in the old height limit, you can check that with the screen below:

    if an admin can help us to fix this problem by telling us where we can change the properity of the drop down menu, that'd be very appreciated.

    Cheers,
